2025 Annual RPS Open Juried Exhibit (Reception Fri, Oct 3 – Show 10/3 – 11/13).

We are excited to announce the 29th Annual RPS Open Juried Exhibit at the Roswell Visual Arts Center, located inside Roswell Area Park, 10495 Woodstock Rd, Roswell, GA 30075

This exhibit is open to all photographers, not just Roswell Photographic Society (RPS) members. As a juried competition, a judge will review the entries and select the images to be placed in the exhibit.

There will be cash awards in each of four categories:

  • Architecture/Travel
  • Nature/Landscape
  • People/Animals
  • Still Life/Abstract

Non-Members–$40.00

  • You may submit up to six (6) images!
  • Images must be original work.
  • No restrictions on the age or date of the photographs.
  • Images must be new to the RPS Open Juried Exhibit. Images previously exhibited in this event are not eligible.
  • Submitted images will be reviewed by the City of Roswell Exhibition Committee for appropriateness. All artwork must be appropriate for all ages. Therefore, no work that depicts or describes violence, adult themes, drug use, or controversial subject matter will be considered.  Full frontal nudes will not be exhibited. The Committee reserves the right to reject any artwork that at their sole discretion is deemed unsuitable for any reason.

Participants will be notified by email of jury selections.

Juried-in images must meet the following guidelines:

  • Works may be printed on paper, wood, metal glass etc.
  • If the image is framed:
    • Frames may be any color, of professional quality (no plastic), with hanging wire attached to the frame molding sides
    • Framed images must be matted in black or white with 1.5” or wider mat.
  • Size: Perimeter length (total length around all four sides of the piece), including frame if any, must be at least 50”. For example, a 14×11” piece is 50” (14+14+11+11)
  • Images must have a hanging wire securely attached to the frame, not the backing. Hooks, clips, Velcro, or other hanging mechanisms are not allowed.
  • All works must have the Artist’s Name, contact information (phone number), Title of the piece, Image Category and Selling Price (or “Not For Sale”) securely attached to the back of the image. 
  • Roswell Photographic Society reserves the right to disallow any image not prepared as described above.

Awards

  • There will be cash awards for First through Third place in each category. Honorable Mentions may also be noted depending on the number of entries per category.
  • Additional Vendor Awards may also be presented.
  • Awards will be announced at the 6:30pm October 3 reception. Awards not picked up at the reception may picked up at the Roswell Visual Arts Center’s office during regular business be hours within 30 days of the close of the Show (10-4, Tue-Fri). Awards not claimed during that time will become the property of the Roswell Photographic Society.

Sales: Exhibited photographs may be offered for sale at the artist’s discretion. There is a 30% commission on all sales.

Rights: The artists retain all rights to their works.

Our Judge: Maria L Kelly

Maria L. Kelly is the Assistant Curator of Photography at the High Museum of Art. During her time at the High, Maria has helped organize more than twenty-five photography installations. Her exhibitions include Tyler Mitchell: Idyllic Space (2024), Underexposed: Women Photographers from the Collection (2021), What Is Near: Reflections on Home (2016), and Helen Levitt: In the Street (2015), and she was the venue curator for the traveling exhibitions Deana Lawson (2022) and André Kertész: Postcards from Paris (2022). She has also independently curated exhibitions at the Swan Coach House Gallery and Columbus State University.


Maria earned an M.A. from Columbia University and a B.A. from the University of Georgia, both in art history. She has held positions at The Sir Elton John Photography Collection and the Brooklyn Museum and internships at The Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Georgia Museum of Art.
