Historical Roswell Photography Exhibit (Entry deadline is April 19).

In honor of our country’s 250th anniversary, the Roswell Photographic Society and the Roswell Historical Society are hosting the Historic Roswell Photography Exhibit and Competition to showcase the many historic sites in our city. The exhibit will be on display from June 6 to August 29, 2026 in the Roswell History Museum. The museum is on the second floor of the Roswell Cultural Arts Center located at 950 Forrest St. Roswell, GA 30075.

SUBJECTS: The Roswell Historical Society has provided a list of historic locations of interest for the exhibit (below).

ELIGIBILITY: This is exhibit and competition is open to the public of all ages.

ENTRY FEE: Participants may submit up to 4 photos for a single entry fee of $20.

AWARDS: All proceeds from the entry fees to cash awards with three winners splitting the purse equally.

JUDGING: The Roswell Historical Society will select the images for display from the entries. They will also select the winners from the prints of the selections. Note that images will also be evaluated by the City of Roswell for appropriateness for public display. (No depictions of violence, nudity, drugs, etc.)

SALES: Exhibited photographs may be offered for sale at the artist’s discretion. There is no commission for sales with this exhibit.

MERCHANDISING: The Roswell Historical Society may select images from this exhibit to create promotional and merchandising items, such as postcards, posters, coasters, note cards, etc. The Roswell Historical Society will cover all costs for creating said merchandise.

RIGHTS: Unless the photograph is sold, the artist retains all rights to their original print. By entering this contest you agree to allow your images to be used for merchandising for the Roswell Historical Society without compensation.

LIABILITY: Care will be taken in handling and securing images. However, the City of Roswell, Roswell Historical Society, Roswell Recreation and Parks Department, Roswell Photographic Society, and any of their representatives assume no responsibility for loss or damage to the works.

DISCLAIMER: By entering this show, you verify that you have read, understand, and will comply with all of the entry rules, including the waiver of liability. You also understand that selection and awards decisions by the Roswell Historical Society are final and that your image may be used for promotional purposes by the Roswell Historical Society or the Roswell Photographic Society.

LOCATION: The Roswell History Museum is located on the second floor of the Roswell Cultural Arts Center located at 950 Forrest St. Roswell, GA 30075. The stairwell and elevator are on the right side of the lobby as you enter the building.

SUBMISSION DETAILS:

  • $20 Entry fee
  • You may submit up to four (4) images!
  • Images must be original work.
  • There is no limit to when the pictures were taken.
  • All entries will be reviewed by the City of Roswell Exhibition Committee for appropriateness. The Committee reserves the right to reject any artwork that at their sole discretion is deemed unsuitable for any reason. Artwork must be appropriate for all ages. In general, images that depict or describe violence, adult themes, drug use, full frontal nudity or controversial subject matter will be disallowed.
  • Participants will be notified by email of the accepted selections.

GUIDELINES FOR PREPARING ACCEPTED PICTURES:

  • Works may be printed on paper, wood, metal glass etc.
  • Size: Perimeter length (total length around all four sides of the piece), including frame if any, must be at least 50”. For example a 14×11” piece is 50” (14+14+11+11)
    Maximum size is: 88” perimeter length (e.g. 20×24” frame)
  • If the image is framed:
    • Frames may be any color, of professional quality, with a hanging wire attached to the frame.
    • Framed images must be matted in black or white with 1.5” or wider mat.
  • Images must have a hanging wire securely attached to the frame, not the backing. Hooks, clips, Velcro, or other hanging mechanisms are not allowed.
  • All works must have the Artist’s Name, contact information (phone number), Title of the piece, and Selling Price (or “Not For Sale”) securely attached to the back of the image. 
  • Roswell Photographic Society and the Roswell Historical Society reserve the right to disallow any image not prepared as described above.
