Join / Update your Membership
Print images should be un-framed but stiff enough to display on an easel. Matting is allowed. Please bring prints to the meeting by 6:30pm to allow the judge time to evaluate the print submissions prior to the meeting.
You must be a current member to participate in the photo review. And note that participants must be present at the meeting to receive any points toward Photographer of the Year if their picture wins an award.
Judge: Stewart Woodard
Born in New Orleans a few decades ago. Grew up in Oklahoma. Lived in 7 states and visited 49 of our 50 great states, only need to visit Idaho and I’ll have all 50! Moved to Georgia in 2004.
Retired too early, but what can you do? Most of my work career has been in the newspaper industry, no NOT a journalist. However, in college at Oklahoma State University I did work as a newspaper general assignment photographer. Active with the start-up of USA Today and Gannett were some of my hardest working years but enjoyed it the most. We all knew we were making history and building something unique in USA Today.
A few years ago, my sons gave me a Nikon digital camera, so now I am back into photography. Mainly, nature and outdoor photography. Since 2013, a large part of my time has been involved with the Georgia Nature Photographers Association. I have held leadership roles at both local chapter and state levels. I lead various photographic field trips and in 2016 began and curated the annual “Stand in Ansel Adams footsteps” GNPA Competition and Exhibition at the Hudgens, Center for the Arts & Learning. The 11th annual exhibition has a great collection of 121 (out of 271 submitted) amateur black & white nature photography.
Also spend time as Chair of the Player Services Committee at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic/PGA Champions Tour at Sugarloaf TPC, Volunteer Photographer at the FedEx PGA Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club, SAR (Sons of American Revolution) and a few other organizations. My wife, Monica and I celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary in Nov 2024. We both enjoy family, traveling, history, genealogy and volunteering.
