Join us for an exiting evening photographing a Roller Derby match! Watch the Toxic Shocks face off the Glamma Rays at 5 pm. If you like, you can make it a double header and stay for the second match and watch the Apocalypstix battling the Black Water Reapers at 7:30pm. Here’s a summary of Roller Derby Rules.
The doors will open at 4:30pm. I suggest arriving around that time so you can check out the venue.
Tickets can be purchased through the Atlanta Roller Derby Website and are $20 per game with discounts for double header and group purchases.
The matches take place at the Agnes Scott College, Woodruff Athletic Complex, 225 E Dougherty St, Decatur, GA 30030. Their recommended parking facility is the Agnes Scott College Parking deck at 137 S McDonough St, Decatur, GA 30030. The parking deck is a short walk from the athletic complex.
If you want to carpool, meet at the Marta parking lot at GA400 exit 8 by 4pm.
This is a fun, fast paced indoor sport. You will likely use high shutter speeds (1/500 or faster). Wide apertures are recommended to keep ISO as low as possible and to control depth of field.
Consider bringing the following equipment:
- A medium zoom lens (70-200 or similar).
- A standard zoom lens (24-70 or similar) if you would like to take wider shots.
Flashes, monopods or tripods are not allowed.
