About Our Instructor, Jerry Black

This presentation explores why talent alone is not enough. Jerry will share images and stories of his journey as a landscape, macro, and wildlife photographer and why he is now beginning to explore abstracts.

JERRY BLACK

Jerry Black is an avid amateur photographer who has photographed for over 40 years. Over the past eight or so years, he has become known locally as an outstanding wildlife and nature photographer.
He has won numerous local, national, and international competitions.


Jerry has received first place at GNPA’s annual EXPO both in wildlife and landscape competitions and for six years running has had one or more images juried annually into the Booth Museum
Photography Annual Exhibition as well as in other curated exhibits. He has also done the
quarterly image critiques for the Booth Photography Guild and regularly critiques and judges
competitions for other organizations.


In recent years Jerry’s images have received more national recognition being chosen as one of Audubon’s Top 100 images for 2015 and 2016. In 2018, Jerry’s image of Lake Louise Canada took Best In Show at GNPA’s Annual Ansel Adams B&W competition.

Jerry’s notable quote is: “Color is God’s music for the eyes, go photograph it and dance to it.”
Jerry has presented his presentation “Passion, Perseverance, Payoffs” to a variety of clubs as well as numerous talks on using Topaz Plug-Ins.

When not out photographing somewhere, Jerry is the Founder and President of Legacy
Planning Advisors, LLC. where he and his staff provide financial and life planning for their
clients.
